Beasiswa S3 [Ph.D] Belanda: Biophotonics workstation: one postdoctoral fellowship and one PhD scholarship

Biophotonics workstation:
one postdoctoral fellowship and one PhD scholarship

The Optics and Plasma Research Department at Risø National Laboratory invites applications for a 2-year postdoctoral fellowship and a 3-year PhD scholarship.

Job description
The work will be on development of new and innovative schemes for state-of-the-art optical micro-manipulation with pioneering applications in micro-fluidics, biotechnology and nano-materials research.

  • The research project will specifically focus on using patented optical parallel encoding and modulation techniques for:
  • Realising a fully 3D user-interactive biophotonics workstation
  • Implementing all-optically facilitated micro-fluidic lab-on-a-chip units
  • Next generation multi-beam optical manipulation and nano-sensing fully utilising spatial, spectral and temporal properties of dynamically sculpted laser fields

The project will involve collaborative research with leading academic and industrial groups in Europe, USA and Japan.

Qualifications

  • PhD degree (for the postdoctoral fellowship) and MSc degree (for the PhD scholarship) in physics/optics/electronic engineering obtained within the past few years
  • Strong experience in experimental physics, particularly optics, microscopy, electronics and computer-based control and instrumentation.

Moreover, it will be an advantage if you have experience in micro-fluidics and/or micro-biology.

We offer

An experimentally oriented research environment at the forefront of a highly active and competitive area of science including the potential for a commercial spin-off.
